From the Standard:
Carry out investigations of phenomena, using the statistical enquiry cycle:
- using existing data sets (You are given the data, but need to concider how it was collected)
- seeking explanations
- using informed contextual knowledge, exploratory data analysis, and statistical inference (You need to investigate the context prior to the internal)
- communicating findings and evaluating all stages of the cycle
- Make inferences from surveys and experiments:
- determining estimates and confidence intervals for differences
- use methods such as resampling to assess the strength of the evidence (resampling repeatedly and randomly is called Bootstraping)
Using the statistical enquiry cycle to make a formal inference involves:
- posing a comparison investigative question using a given multivariate data set (You are given lots of data, you decide what to investigate)
- selecting and using appropriate displays and summary statistics (iNZight will be used - including the Bootstrap tool)
- discussing sample distributions (Lots of vocab required)
- discussing sampling variability, including the variability of estimates (VIT is good for building this understanding)
- making an appropriate formal statistical inference (The evidence suggests... or It is a fairly safe bet that....)
- communicating findings in a conclusion (Answer your question!)

A. determining estimates and confidence intervals for means, proportions, and differences, recognising the relevance of the central limit theorem
B. using methods such as resampling or randomisation to assess the strength of evidence.
